The Sabath

What if the Sabbath had less to do with Israel recuperating from the busyness of life and more to do with God revealing that there was coming a day when their effort would cease and they would know peace?

Think about it. God didn’t rest from exhaustion. The creation account is a story of God taking pleasure in what He was making. More than anything else, we see God declaring, “It is good!” God’s rest wasn’t about napping. It was about pleasure.

So what if the Sabbath was too? What if the point was never idleness, but grace? If so, do we still honor the shadow, while experiencing the satisfaction?

Something to think about. Thoughts?
